IMPORTANT. Update on the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on Westfield Road.

Image and text taken from Say No To Battery Store Facebook Page

Many of you who previously objected to the BESS will have received an email today confirming that the developer has Appealed the council’s decision to refuse the plans.

Consequently, we are now awaiting an appeal date for the public meeting, during which, the developer and the planning dept will both be cross examined by an independent inspector.

We (as the public), will also get the opportunity to put forward our argument.

As soon as we hear any further information/ dates, we will let you know.

There have also been a number of letters sent to local Neighbours, close to the proposed BESS. The letter is from Stantec (the engineering consultant representing Firma Voigt). The letter informs us of small changes made to the application.

If you wish to look at these ‘changes’, they can be found on http://www.westfieldbess.com. I’m sure you will agree with us that the proposal of the BESS still remains preposterous.

Stantec have advised that comments should be submitted via email to planning.northern@stantec.com

Please be aware, this is NOT the same as submitting an objection to Leeds City Council.

We are, however, encouraging as many people as possible to have their say on the matter; not just those who received the letter. If lots of us contact them, we are sending a clear unified message to the developer.

If you wish to join us and object, you will only need to send a very short message explaining how you support the council’s initial refusal of the application.

All comments need to be submitted to planning.northern@stantec.com by the 4th December. And contain the reference 23/06404/FU Westfield Road BESS Appeal.

If you do respond to Stantec, we would also appreciate you notifying us by emailing stop.the.bess01@gmail.com. If we need to represent ourselves in the future, it would be a useful to have a rough idea of how many people have expressed concerns.

If you have any other queries, you can also contact us using the above email address.
As always, thank you so much for your continued support.

Questionnaire: Heritage – Tell Us What You Think!

🐣🐰 We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. This is our last survey, please could you help? The surveys will close in the coming weeks, so any further responses will be hugely appreciated! 🐰🐣

Our theme this week: HERITAGE

The Carlton Village Neighbourhood Forum (CVNF) is in the process of creating a Neighbourhood Plan which will guide and influence any further development in the designated Carlton Neighbourhood Area.

Over the years you have responded really well with great ideas and comments on what Carlton should look like in the future to best serve the Community. From our previous surveys we (the Community) have identified key themes and topics that the Forum wants to include in the Plan.

We are seeking feedback and ideas from all of those who live, work, study or carry out business in the Carlton Neighbourhood Area. We would like to hear your latest views on priorities for each of the aforementioned key themes.

The Forum is working with Leeds City Council who are publicising the consultation and will collate the responses on behalf of the Forum.

So, how can you help once again and tell us what you think?

We will post a link every two weeks relating to a different theme.

Our theme this week is: Heritage
